Basics of Employee Motivation
People are the most valuable asset in any business; thus, it is vital to ensure employees are motivated not just to remain productive but also to encourage them in achieving or even exceeding company goals. One tip on motivation is that you can encourage people but not more than they can encourage themselves. Thus, you must create a work environment that helps inspire your employees more. Also, remember that there is no one-size-fits-all method of motivation because different employees are stimulated by different things. Most importantly, keep in mind that money is most often not a good motivator. Furthermore, ensure that employees’ individual professional goals are aligned with company goals so that employees will not waste their efforts working very hard on tasks that do not contribute to company goals. Employees lose motivation when they find out their efforts are just in vain. Lastly, in order to motivate other people, you must motivate yourself first.
