Healthcare - Nursing
Nursing is one of the professions suffering from an acute shortage in manpower. This is because the general population is aging and this requires significant nursing care. Not only are there more people who are moving into retirement and old age but old people are living much longer due to advances in medicine and science. Nursing is an in-demand profession and pays an average salary that is above the average of other professions. This job requires a dedication to caring for sick people either terminally or chronically. Nurses are often in the first line of defence in the delivery of health care in emergency rooms of hospitals. They can also assist in the delivery of babies in the absence of a qualified obstetrician. Nursing homes for the aged require the services of a nurse who must not only put up with grumpy old people but other aggravations as well such as a shifting schedule including graveyard shifts.
Health care is for life.
