The health care team is composed of many members other than the doctor, the nurse, medical transcriptionist, the dietician or the radiologist. The team includes people who are not seen often by patients but are nevertheless crucial to the delivery of health services. Example is a medical orderly who is tasked to perform heavy physical or manual tasks such as getting the oxygen tank changed with a new one. This hospital attendant consists of assisting some medical or nursing staff carries out their duties. Although not licensed, they can performed a few tasks under the direct supervision of a licensed medical practitioner. Orderlies are found in emergency rooms, operating surgical rooms, psychiatry (to restrain mental patients) and in orthopaedics (assist physicians in applying plaster casts and carrying patients with broken bones such as legs or hips).
