Hospital non-medical staff includes janitors and security personnel such as guards and medical orderlies especially in mental institutions. They are also found in most penitentiaries where quite often prisoners may need urgent medical care during prison riots. These staff is needed in other situations as well such as guarding the hospital premises during night time, protect hospital property and maintain order within the hospital itself. There are also the rare instances when a famous fugitive or person who needs to be hospitalised will be guarded to prevent any attempts at escape.
